The following sections describe the AWC Applicant Portal registration process for NEW external applicant users. An external user is considered as any user who is "Non FAA". A NEW user is considered for any person that does not have an ASKME External User account.
Once you have been approved access to the AWC Applicant Portal, you use the My Profile option in the application to manage your Applicant account; see My Profile.
AWC Applicant Portal New User Registration
The external user must first register for access to the AWC Applicant Portal. The following sections describe the process for a new external user to enter their request for access to the AWC Applicant Portal.
Complete and Submit a New User Registration
The following section provides the step by step instructions for registering as a new user for the AWC Applicant Portal. Mandatory fields are indicated with a red asterisk (*) on the screen.
User Information tab
The following section provides the step by step instructions for completing the information on the User Information tab. Mandatory fields are indicated with a red asterisk (*) on the screen.
- The email must be unique and cannot be a group email address.
- For the U.S., the phone number format is (###) ###-####.
- For countries other than the U.S., the telephone number is comprised of the 2 or 3 digit country code (system set based on the country selected) + phone number (including area code) + extension code (if applicable).
- For the U.S., the fax number format is (###) ###-####.
- For non-U.S. countries, the fax number is comprised of the two or three digit country code (system set based on the country selected) + phone number (including area code).
- The State list includes all the US states, territories and the District of Columbia.
If the Country selected is not the United States, this field label will change to Province/Region and become a manual text data entry field. To enter a Province/Region, first select the country from the Country list.
- Upon save, the system validates the address against the USPS Service and if an exact match is not found, the following Override options are provided. Select one to complete the Save and proceed to the Security Information tab. For more information, see USPS Address Validation.

Security Information tab
The Security Information section on the Security Information tab allows you to select security questions and answers used when resetting your password. To complete this section, follow the steps below.
Note: The User Information must be completed before accessing the Security Information tab.
- What was the name of your first pet?
- What is your mother's maiden name?
- What was the color of your first car?
- What is your favorite sport?
- What is the street name you work or office is located on?
- What was the name of your elementary/primary school?
- What is the country of your ultimate dream vacation?
- What was the make and model of your first car?
- What was your high school mascot?
- What year did you graduate from high school?
- In what city did you meet your spouse/significant other?
- In what city or town did your mother and father meet?
- In what city does your nearest sibling live?
- In what city or country do you want to retire?
- In what city or town was your first job?
Password
The Password section on the Security Information tab allows you to set your password. To complete this section, follow the steps below.
- The password must be a minimum of 12 characters, and a maximum of thirteen (13) characters, and includes at least one lower case character, one upper case character, a number and a special character (!, @, $, ‘).
- The password entered into these two fields must match or a validation message displays on save indicating that the passwords must be the same.
