SFA Aircraft Operations

You use the Aircraft Operations page to specify the nature, destination, date and duration applicable to the Special Flight Authorization for which you are applying.

You access this page, after completing the SFA Questionnaire to create the SFA application, in any of the following ways:

Special Note: The data on this page displays as read only when the application status is canceled, closed or withdrawn.

At the top of the FAA header, Help, User Guide, and References links are displayed in the right corner along with a Signout link. The Help link opens page-specific help for the current page. The User Guide link opens the Airworthiness Certification Applicant User Guide, which is the secondary resource for Airworthiness Certification Applicant Portal application user procedures and reference information. The References link opens a page allowing you to access FAA reference data relevant to Airworthiness Certification. The Signout link logs you out of the application and takes you to the System Use Notice. At the bottom of the FAA header, your name displays right justified along with a Person icon (); clicking the icon displays a pop-up screen with a list of the roles assigned to you.

The Airworthiness Certification application navigation top-level menu displays just below the title bar and contains the links that provide access to the Airworthiness Certification commands, or functions: My AWC, Search, Reports and My Profile.

In addition, below the application data block is a tabbed third-tier menu with links to the various pages in the application process. The tabs are color coded indicating whether the pages under that tab are complete (green), in progress (yellow) or not yet started (red). Pages with required fields are marked with icons indicating completed (), in progress (), or not yet started ().

The third-tier menu has the following categories: Aircraft Info, Owner/Applicant Info, Aircraft Operations, External Document, and Review/Submit. Each category has links to the relevant various pages in the application on which you are working.

The Itinerary section name appears below the third-tier menu.

Enter Flight Information

To enter the flight information, follow the steps below. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).

  1. Specify the country of origin of the flight to the United States in the Country/Origin text box.
  2. In the Base of Operations and Areas where proposed Flight will be Conducted text box, specify where the aircraft will be operating while in the United States.
  3. In the Proposed U.S. Point of Entry and itinerary while in the U.S. text box, specify the entry point of the aircraft to the United States and its itinerary while in the United States.
  4. In the Proposed U.S. Point of Departure and ultimate destination text box, specify the point of departure of the flight from the United States and the flight destination.
  5. In the Departure Date field, use the calendar icon or manual entry to specify the departure date from the United States.
  6. In the Duration field, specify the duration of the flight.
  1. Click Save to save your entries and remain on the page, or click Save & Next to save your entries and move to the next page, Documents; see Project Documents. A confirmation message is briefly displayed. Click Reset before clicking save to clear your entries.
