You use the Designee/ODA page to request a designee or ODA when applicable. Note that designees and ODAs cannot be requested for Special Flight Authorization (SFA) applications; and additionally ODAs cannot be requested for Exchange applications.
You access this page, after completing the Aircraft Registration page, in any of the following fashions:
Special Note: The data on this page displays as read only when the application status is canceled, closed or withdrawn.
At the top of the FAA header, Help, User Guide, and References links are displayed in the right corner along with a Signout link. The Help link opens page-specific help for the current page. The User Guide link opens the Airworthiness Certification Applicant User Guide, which is the secondary resource for Airworthiness Certification Applicant Portal application user procedures and reference information. The References link opens a page allowing you to access FAA reference data relevant to Airworthiness Certification. The Signout link logs you out of the application and takes you to the System Use Notice. At the bottom of the FAA header, your name displays right justified along with a Person icon (); clicking the icon displays a pop-up screen with a list of the roles assigned to you.

The Airworthiness Certification application navigation top-level menu bar displays just below the title bar and contains the links that provide access to the Airworthiness Certification commands, or functions: My AWC, Search, Reports and My Profile.
Below the top-level menu bar is a block showing the following application information:

Below the application block a tabbed menu appears with links to the various pages in the application process, depending upon the type of application being submitted.
For no Designee or ODA selection: If the answer to the question "Are you requesting a designee/ODA?" is No, click None and then click Save to save your answer and stay on this page or click Save & Next to save your answer and proceed to the Review page; otherwise, follow the applicable instructions below to request a designee or ODA.
Request Designee
The Designee section allows you to add designees to the project and view current potential or selected designees. Selected designees will be allowed to access the application through the AWC Designee portal. Note that this section will not be displayed for Special Flight Authorization applications
To request a designee, follow the steps below.
- DAR-F – Designated Airworthiness Representative for Manufacturing
- DAR-T - Maintenance Designated Airworthiness Representative
- DMIR – Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative
Designee Data Grid
The Designee data grid at the bottom of the page is you are requesting a designee and have successfully executed a search. By default, the columns are displayed in the following order.
To delete a designee record from the grid, simply click the Delete icon and click OK on the confirmation request that displays to remove the document. A message displays stating that the STC has been removed

Request ODA
The ODA section allows you to add an ODA to the application and view the current selected ODA. The selected ODA will be allowed to access the application through the AWC ODA Portal. Note that this page is not applicable for Special Flight Authorization and Exchange applications.
To request an ODA, follow the steps below.
- The ODA search field displays to search for and assign the ODA.
Special Note: If the application configuration is not set for the ODA organization, a message displays to contact the ODA Administrator to configure the application routing.
